Twin Steps is a punk/R&B band from Oakland. Their 10” EP is out on Cola Bruin. Give it a listen and purchase at their bandcamp here.
I would also like to share with you two lunches.
First, Jack Chambers. His photographic-realism mash with impressionism is captivating. Everything seems so perfect, despite this painting actually being unfinished at the time of the painter’s death. Subtle religious theme and colours make up this lunch.
Second round is Spanish painter Joaquin Sorolla Bastida. Stylistically more impressionist this meal is comprised of nice lighting and gentle movement.
Greetings. I share today these artifacts of the internet:
Christot Hatzis is a Greek-Canadian Composer recently featured on my radio show The Art of Noises. His music combines religious themes (including some full out secular stuff) and Inuit Culture in many of his pieces. He is also known for his use of radiophonic and electronic sounds in places where it would not otherwise be common, such as a string quartet. Music available on iTunes. I highly recommend The Awakening & Constantinople.
Sessoviolento (violent sex???) is a Brasilian blackened-crust-electro-core outfit that just put out a new LP. Tasty. Read the write up on CvltNation here. For the review of their earlier demo release go here. ORDER THE LP HERE VINYL FIENDS 20$ to Canada.
John K. Samson dropped his album Provincial last month. It compiles his two earlier solo-venture 7 inches + more new stuff. Read an interview about the neato content of the album here. Stream it here.
Lastly here is a page from the Re-Wild your Life zine. Also pilfered from CvltNation :3

Well here’s some music to dance to. Nick Cave never ceases to please. Gospel and dirty rolling married with moustaches.
Just discovered this delicious new doom band called Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats. How did I not hear of them sooner??? I was on a metallic sludge-core kick for a little too long there! Time to shelve my seven sisters of sleep and other albums A389 got me back into for a bit. These guys have a great sound for a three piece. The musical and lyrical departments suffer on no part due to technical limitations or excess. Time to bust out the Blood Ceremony and cry about how I missed the first press of their new album. Looks like that particular slab of wax went pretty fast! Anyway you can read stonerobixxxx’s post about them below (and snag a digital copy):

Here’s some eye candy:
Also a cool blog that sort of reviews classic film noir every week + other goodies: delecious in its own right!
Horror games have always been popular: from the first Alone in the Dark game to the latest Resident Evil run-n-gun installment. But when it comes to horror connoisseurs such as my self, such quaint ventures are hardly worth any monetary or timely investment. The game Amnesia: The Dark Descent has received a huge amount of attention lately and I would like to share with you today the devs that brought us such a masterpiece. Frictional Games specializes in survival horror gaming- and the stories behind the chilling gameplay are as equally well-crafted. Prior to releasing the award winning Amnesia the twisted Swedes down at Frictional released three installments in a series dubbed Penumbra.
The great thing about these folks is that their engine was able to evolve throughout Penumbra and truly flourish in Amnesia. The HPL (can you figure that one out? hint hint read the title of this post) engine as they affectionately call it allows for terrifying and puzzling gameplay. Running through the deserted halls of a castle slamming doors behind you and pushing furniture up against them can cause your heart to race quite a bit, especially when the thing chasing you looks like this guy:
Well there’s nothing like that to scare the bejeezus out of you during late night PC sessions. Frictional has revealed they are working on a more puzzle based game, and their future looks exciting. They almost tanked, but threw everything they had at Amnesia and it sure payed off. This is old news in the video game world, but everybody has a computer nowadays and whether you are a gamer or not the game is very simple to play. This game will make you pause it so you can compose yourself on at least three occasions, and I recommend to any who enjoy a good scare and an intriguing yarn.

Greeting. Tonight’s creature-feature is the King of Gonzo. Digression after digression yet somehow it is all linked together by the time you are done reading. Beautiful, drunken right time right place or politically in/out of tune master of the typewriter?
Well here’s what I wanted to share: a neat-o link. Or, simply click the picture above if you fancy.
Greetings brigands. I realize I have not posted in awhile. I have no-one to blame but myself, and the internet.
Just this evening I participated in my first ever line-battle training session for Mount and Musket: a popular mod for the already popular game Mount and Blade. A group of fiends on Reddit created a brigade, and you can align yourself with one of many regiments, including cavalry. The group uses the mod and its server to recreate Napoleonic era line warfare.
I aligned myself with the fighting 33rd and we practiced line drills and melee combat. Despite my sketchy Canadian internets, my first foray into virtual line warfare went well. The commanders were helpful and explained all the 1337 moves to us nublets.
Here’s a screen:
Very cool stuff. The community is passionate and welcoming, should provide great fun during the long winter months.
The game is available for purchase through steam
Information about the mod and Reddit group can be found here or by clicking the above picture
God is watching, Roberto. They don’t pay you to DANCE!!!
What is best in life?
To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women.
I’ve wanted to do this post for awhile. While it is easy for ill informed folk to dismiss him as a sex crazed and severely damaged person who committed a copious amount of unspeakable evils, we should take a minute to think. Before you align yourself with this opinion, let us look at the other side of Mr.Crowley. Many men of supposed genius they tend to have certain “habits” (for Crowley it seemed any drug under the sun, bizarre “sex-magic” rituals while he wasn’t being an avid mountain climber)but if we can put these sometimes unfortunate but usually oh so necessary habits to the side for a second we could perhaps see the truth behind their messages.
Crowley’s infamous motto from the Book of the Law was “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.” Does this mean you can prance around and do whatever you please? Not quite. Many different interpretations have been put forth, and I shall put forth mine. I believe Crowley wants people to do what they want, without letting anything get in the way of your will to do so.
Crowley’s influence is still present today, as Thelemites gather and spread the word of the Great Beast throughout many lands. I came across an interesting translation Mr. Crowley did of the Tao Te Ching (Crowley spent some time in China) on this superb website the other day, and thought I would share that site with you here.
